i did an experiment when i got a green leaf and put it in a bowl. then i put in a little bit of alchohol and crushed the leaf. the pigments came out and turned the alchohol green. then i stuck a piece of filter paper in and it rose up slowly. there was like a dark green part on the bottom, then it got lighter and lighter till it turned clear. other people did the same experiment but w/yellow leaves. i have a question on my homework that i can't get.

it says:  When there were more than one kind of pigmenmt present in the leaves, why did the resulting bamds of color appear at different heights on the paper strip? Think of why these chemical pigments might act differently.
